Faith in the time of Coronavirus

Father Paul writes... I have heard a lot of teaching in the last couple of months of preachers and teachers trying to link coronavirus with Biblical prophecy. That’s very dangerous ground to walk on, but the Bible does speak of many 'things to come'. A commonly mentioned passage is Matthew 24. The scripture reads: "For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places".

The Anglican Alliance has produced a series of Bible studies called “Faith in the time of Coronavirus” if you are curious here is the link. Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby writes: “I am delighted to commend to you Faith in the time of Coronavirus and am deeply grateful to the Anglican Alliance for creating this resource. In such extraordinary times, it is not only helpful but vital that we engage together with God’s Word".

As ever theologians will speculate or disagree, but we should all be willing to have open minds and try to see for ourselves what the Bible says. Its wont be easy, but perhaps we should at least look, we are told endlessly to be on our guard and watch for the signs of end times. Probably not in our lifetimes, but who knows. Even Jesus told His disciples that only God knows.
