Intercessions

25th August 2024

Let us pray:
Let us close our eyes but open our hearts. Let us feel the presence of God all around us, in front of us, behind us, by the sides of us, above and below us and most importantly inside us. As we come with open hearts to give thanks and praise to the Lord. We offer you our prayers for the needs of the Church, the world and its people.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you promised through your son, Jesus Christ, to hear us when we pray in faith. We give you thanks for everything we have had, have today and will have tomorrow for you provide for our every need. You are with us always and if you Lord are for us, who can come against us. We praise  you for your wonderful creation, for the marvellous world you have given us. Your presence can be seen, heard, felt, tasted and smelt. Let us remember to praise you for the many gifts you give us daily.

We come before you united in prayer and worship. Equip us to do your work here on earth. Thank you for sending Mike to lead us, for his counsel and knowledge and his understanding of prayer. We pray that when we leave today we will learn to put into practice what he has taught us and that we may learn to communicate with you and connect with you, constantly drawing nearer to your presence.
We celebrate the birthday of Amari, we ask that this precious child be blessed and that soon she is joined by other children here in Christ The King. We pray for the ministry of Veronica, let it grow and fill your church with the innocent laughter of many children, ready to receive your Holy Spirit to guide their lives.
We pray for La Iglesia Anglicana de Mexico may they find a unified way forward to serve their congregations.

God, who rules over all the world, we ask for your help. Send your Holy Spirit to enter the hearts of those that put themselves forward to act as leaders. We need selfless, honest people. We crave for a world where politicians speak the truth and keep their word. Guide those Christians who work with the world leaders to model and teach the true Christian way of living that the people around them will learn from the example of others.

We ask for protection for all those that work in rescue services. We pray for the safe deliverance of all the firemen and other services fighting the fires here in Portugal. For the services being provided for the people in Bangladesh suffering from the flooding we give thanks for their aid. For the many other climatic disasters that are happening every day we pray that changes start to be made to prevent rather than cure these situations.

As the season starts to come to an end here in the Algarve we ask that those in need will find work that is worthy, dignified and fairly paid. We pray for our youth and the situations they are facing, for the elderly with financial and health problems after a lifetime spent working. We pray for your intervention at government and local levels. Send your Holy Spirit to give them hope of a better future.

Healing God, help us to believe that you hear our prayers and that if we ask we will receive. Today we give up our worries for those we love and ask for your healing power to work miracles in them. We pray for those on our prayer list, the physically sick, the mentally sick and those that ail with spiritual or emotional problems.

We pray that a correct diagnosis and form of treatment is found soon for Yvette, we keep in our hearts her husband Ross, who must be feeling very worried. May they both find comfort and strength in God’s love.

Lastly, we ask that our loved ones are not forgotten, keep them alive in our hearts and let us remember the lessons they taught us, the gift of faith we found because of them, and the many days of happiness spent with them. We pray that they are safe in your eternal embrace and that one day we will reunite with them in your Kingdom.

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
