Intercessions

Sunday 30th November

Lord of all light, you created us and are all around us. Thank you for being the Light of the World and entering into our story. Help us to seek your light so that we may find and know your presence in both the brightness of day and the deepest dark of the night.

Heavenly Father, as we enter the Holy Advent season, we prepare our hearts and focus our prayers to welcome Your Son Jesus Christ. Grant us the grace to walk in faith and Hope, to be watchful in prayer, and to live in joyful expectation of His coming.

Gracious God, please hear us as we pray in faith for the needs of Your church and the world.
We pray for our church leaders and all who preach and teach in your church across the nations. We pray especially for Reverend Steve and our Laity, for Bishop Andy and our brothers and sisters within the ACE family. May they and we, be your light in the world. Inspire us to follow in the footsteps of John the Baptist in preparing the way; being bold in proclaiming the Hope of Christmas, and the Hope that is to come. May our actions and our hearts reflect the true message of Christmas. Teach and guide us all on our spiritual journey through Advent.

God of wisdom, we pray for this troubled world and ask for a peaceful end to wars and conflict. We pray for all hatred to be rejected and ask instead for unity and love to prevail. Govern the hearts and minds of all world leaders and those in authority, so they will act justly and honestly according to your will. Loving God we pray that during this season of peace and goodwill to all men, governments will find a way through political barriers to serve their people better.
In a moment of silence, we pray for any country you lay on our hearts now. We pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters who suffer for their faith. Be their strength and Hope.We pray for the hungry, the homeless, the widows and orphans. Lord Jesus, you are the Hope of the world, bringing a Hope for peace and justice for all.

Creator God, thank you for the gift of this wonderful, multicultural world with all its diversity and wonder. Open our eyes to see you in creation and to enjoy it as a gift to be cared for and nurtured. Give us hearts to do all we can to preserve it, and support those who work tirelessly to conserve, restore and educate, so that future generations will be able to enjoy the gift too.

Merciful God, comfort and strengthen all who suffer; bring them hope and courage in their troubles. We think of those on our hearts this morning; loved ones in hospital or ill at home, and those who care for them. Those struggling with long term illness, depression, financial worries.
In a moment of silent prayer, we pray for someone particularly on our mind today. Please draw close to them so they are aware of your presence, and please provide your comfort and peace.

Come Lord Jesus, awaken our hearts and make us ready for your coming.
Help us to live with Hope, Faith and Love, to serve others with compassion, and to prepare a place for you in our lives. In this season of Advent and Christmas, we thank you for the joy that is ours and the Hope that is ours, and the promise of eternal life you have given us.

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
