Intercessions

28th July 2024

Let us pray:

Lord, as we gather here today, we give you thanks for the wonderful world you have given us. Here in this beautiful setting, we come together to praise and worship you. We are grateful for everything we have, the clothes on our backs, the food on our tables, the family and friends that surround us, we have everything we need, and it is all because of your bountiful love for us.

Let us bring before the God of peace our prayers for the world, for the church and all his people.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you promised through your son, Jesus Christ, to hear us when we pray in faith.

Today we pray for the church worldwide, for all those that you call to do your work and to spread the Good News. We give you thanks for Rev. Steve, who has travelled across an ocean to lead us, fill him with your spirit and equip him to lead us here today and in the future. Fill him with your Spirit and let us hear the way you want Christ the King to move forward.

We raise up The Episcopal Church in Jerusalem & The Middle East, give them the strength to deal with the many problems and tensions in that part of the world.

Lord hear our prayers

Lord forgive us and heal us

Creator of heaven and earth, the world we live in is a miraculous place, where every detail was thought about and created to have balance and sustain life. We pray that as elections continue to happen around the world that more Christian leaders step forward to bring restoration and balance back to this world. We pray for a healing of the world’s leaders, cleanse their minds of greed and selfishness. We pray for healing for the many thousands affected by war, by slavery, and by poverty. We pray for the healing of the earth and the safeguarding of the animals.

Father of all mankind, you made us in your image, then you sent your only son to show us how to love, be compassionate, have mercy and show kindness. Send each and every one of us out today reflecting these character traits. Let us show love to those who we encounter, compassion to understand those we meet, and to be merciful and kind wherever we see the need. We confess our shortcomings and ask for healing.

Healing Lord, we give you thanks for the health we have, we know of many that are suffering. We pray for those that feel lost and forgotten due to illness, it is easy when in pain or difficulties to forget that you, God, know our pain and you feel our suffering. Let us pray for those that are ailing, that they feel God’s presence, that they feel his love and return to his side to find healing. In a moment of silence, we pray for all those known and unknown who suffer physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Embracing God, for those that have gone from this world we pray that they find peace and love for eternity. Let us be grateful for every minute of our lives, let us love and enjoy life with our loved ones in the knowledge that our suffering too will someday end, and we will join with the loved ones who have gone before us.

Today, we ask a special pray for Utsah and Utsab. We pray that the Holy Spirit guides them on their journey in life. Let them find fellow Christians to help, advise and support them during their lives.

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
