Intercessions
07th April 2024
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine; O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God; born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
O Lord what a wonderful promise of salvation we have through the death and resurrection of Your beloved Son. It’s a salvation available to everyone. On this special day – as Rev. Steve is instituted as our full time minister – we praise You Lord for bringing him here to lead us in this great commission in our church of Christ The King. Thank you for his love and dedication to You Lord and for the loving support of his family – Veronica, Ayla and Zelia. We also give thanks for Bishop Andy, that he is able to be with us to oversee this special service. Thank You for his life in service to Christ and we ask Your blessing on him and his wife Mandy as they continue their walk with You.

Leading a church brings with it many responsibilities as well as blessings. Surround church leaders with Your love and inspire them through the power of Your Holy Spirit to lead with love, compassion and understanding. In the Anglican cycle of prayer we pray for The Episcopal/Anglican Province of Alexandria.

We pray for the world in which we live. Open our eyes to the needs of those around us. We pray for everyone to be able to live in peace with their neighbours; a willingness to put aside differences and disagreements; a willingness to love each other whatever the cost to ourselves. This is something which we can only hope to achieve Lord with Your help and guidance.

Healing God, we pray for healing in body, mind and spirit both for ourselves and those we love and know who are in need at this time – whether it be easing of physical pain, feeling lonely or far from Your presence and unsure what the future holds. In a moment of quiet we name them in our hearts and minds.
We also pray for those who have died this past week as we live in the real hope that they are now with You in glory. May Your Holy Spirit bring comfort to all those who are grieving the death of someone they knew and loved.

Again Lord we give You thanks and praise for this special service today in the life of Your church, Christ The King. Bless Rev. Steve as he leads us through this next chapter in our church life, and bless us as we support him on this exciting journey. We all have a part to play – big and small. Open our hearts and minds to a new vision You have for us here in the Algarve and beyond.

for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
