Intercessions

14th April 2024

Let us be still and know that God is with us, open our hearts and let us
know your love, hear your wisdom, feel your strength and seek your
truth.

We come here today to give you our adoration, confess our sins, offer
you thanksgiving and humbly ask for your help with the needs of the
Church, the world and its people.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you promised through your son,
Jesus Christ, to hear us when we pray in faith.

Thank you for sending us the Rev. Steve Chisholm and his family to live
and to work among us. Let him lead this your Church, Christ the King,
show him the path to take to reach out into the community and grow the Church. Let the council support and guide him in his decisions, let the congregation shower him and his family with love and comfort.

We pray for the church worldwide for all those that work to bring relief,
hope and the light of God into areas of conflict, suffering and disaster.
We pray for The Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and
Polynesia, you Lord know their needs.

God, you are the light of the world but the world where we live is covered in a mantle of darkness, greed and cruelty proliferate. Life is
unpredictable, desperation is felt by many. Send your Holy Spirit, the
Comforter to all those in need. Send the Helper to guide and lead those
filled with nothing but greed and hatred to change the way the world is being led. Lead us away from war and bring a world of peace and love into the light.

Lord in Your mercy

We are blessed to be called your children, grateful to be part of your
family, we are not deserving of your love but the sacrifice of your son
Jesus Christ has brought us nearer to you. Heal our inner wounds so that we can model our lives on the life of Jesus. Then strengthened by your power send us out; to love one another, help the under trodden, feed the hungry, clothe the poor and aid the sick in our community.

Lord, our prayers for the sick and ailing are many and we ask that you
bring healing, strength and comfort to all. We pray especially for Steve
and Jenny today. May the medical staff administer the right medication to heal Steve’s inflammation. May Jenny feel the comfort of God’s love
surrounding her at this worrying time.

Let us call to mind a person in crisis or in need, who is feeling weak and
unwell. We invite the Holy Spirit to draw near to them so they can feel
encouraged and renewed in their fight for wellbeing.

Heavenly Father, for those that grieve the death of loved ones, let us be
assured that they rest eternally in your Kingdom. Grant us strength as we struggle to live without them and help us to trust in your plan.

Lord in Your mercy
Hear our prayer

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
