Intercessions
10th March 2024
As we come together today on this Mothering Sunday with our hearts open to give thanks and praise to the Lord. We offer you our prayers for the needs of the Church, the world and its people.
Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you promised through your son, Jesus Christ, to hear us when we pray in faith.
On this special day we pray for mothers worldwide, those that are no longer here, those present and those that are to come.
We give thanks for biological mothers, also for those women who give a home and love to a child that is not theirs. Mothers that loved us, raised us and comforted us in our time of need. Give strength and guidance to all the mothers that struggle, those that feel they are failing, those that are lost and alone.

Blessed God, we are thankful for Christ the King Church, where we can come together. We raise our voices in praise for all you do for us.
Strengthen this Church with the Holy Spirit and make each and every one of us a living example of your love in the world.
In the Anglican cycle of prayer we pray for the Episcopal church.

Heavenly Father in a world torn apart by wars and natural disasters. We pray for guidance and protection for all the mothers trying to deal with situations, where there is no power, no water and no food. Let the peacemakers see the suffering of the women and children and work together to bring peaceful solutions in all parts of the world.
God of Wisdom as elections happen today here in Portugal, guide those to vote for a more just and morally right government. Guide the hearts of those that establish the new government to make decisions based on the needs of the people and not for their own personal gain.

We give thanks to all those that take on a mothering role in the community, those that try to cloth and to feed those less fortunate than ourselves. Let us give generously.
We give thanks to Susan Minnis for her incentive to recycle the clothes we have, yet never use.

Healing God, most of us here today have relatively good health. We have the opportunity to see doctors and specialists to cure our ailments. We pray for all those that are not in such good health, we pray for those awaiting appointments and we pray for miracles for those that doctors say they cannot do any more to help.

God who comforts all. Be with those that are coming to an end of their journey here on earth. Comfort those that are grieving. May our loved ones rest eternally in your loving embrace.

What a wonderful world surrounds us. We give you thanks for the rain that is so much needed, may you send more to finish the drought that plagues the Algarve. May you help us make decisions that will save your earth.

for the sake of your Son,
