Intercessions

3rd March 2024

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you promised through your Son Jesus Christ to hear us when we pray in faith. Let us pray for the church and the world and thank God for his goodness.

Faithful God, we thank you for your Church, gathering around the world in thousands of places, from tiny churches to great cathedrals, to praise you, to hear your Holy word, and to share together in fellowship.  Help us to put our differences behind us and to unite and work towards the great commission of Jesus, “to make disciples of all nations”.

Creator God, we pray for our world where so many people struggle to live in peace.  We pray for those who must search every day for food or walk long distances for clean water.  We pray for those who are being persecuted for their faith.  We cry out to you in the midst of the pain and trauma of violence and fear which prevails in the Holy Land. Be with those who need you in these days of suffering, and those who have fled their homes in fear, especially the people of Ukraine and Gaza.

We thank you, for all the people around the world who are trying to bring about cease fires and peace agreements. Lord, soften hardened hearts and help all sides to compromise.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for our beautiful world. We thank you for our adopted Country and the generous and caring people who surround us every day. . We thank you for our communities and neighbours and for finding us a home that is safe, where we can grow strong and prosper in your love.  We thank you for those people who sustain us by their love, kindness and forgiveness.  Thank you for the people with whom our lives are linked and who make up the fabric of our family and community life.  Make us sensitive and alert to each other’s needs and quick to serve and encourage one another.  May our relationships with each other reflect your grace and gentleness.

Heavenly Father we pray for our Church, Christ The King and for all the leaders both lay and ordained as they gently guide us and teach us in your ways. Today we are reminded of the commandments that you gave to Moses and the covenant you made with your people – the covenant renewed by Jesus.  We pray for the congregation with us today and for all the people throughout the Algarve, particularly our brothers and Sisters in Tavira, may the Lord bless them and guide them in their work and their homes, guarding them from harm and injury. Lord protect our families, Protect our homes whether near or far and grant us your peace. And today in the worldwide cycle of prayer we pray for the Church of the Province of Uganda.

Father God, we pray for all the people that we meet in our daily lives.  Help us to recognise Christ in one another, however stressed and tired we are or they may be. Help us to reach out to others with a smile or a kind word, give us the opportunity of showing the love of Jesus to those who do not know it.

Merciful Lord we ask for your blessing on our families, our friends and neighbours, and on those who are sick and those who are failing, we pray for all those in need; for those who are filled with guilt; who are broken-hearted; who are confused and afraid; or saddened for whatever reason. We raise up before you the people within our congregation and people on our prayer list and the people in our hearts who need your healing touch and the comfort of knowing that you are there for them – walking beside them. hand in hand. We ask for strength and courage for the people who can only stand and watch their loved one’s struggle illness and we pray for those we love, who we longer see in our midst, those who have been gathered into your presence and called home. We name them now silently in our hearts.  We pray for the ones who are left behind to grieve. Let them know your comfort, Lord.
