Intercessions
12th January 2025
In Christ alone our hope is found – He is our light, our strength and our refuge. Let us remember those words as we come before God with our prayers for today. Help us Lord to lift our worries up to you and to leave them in your hands.
We give you thanks Lord for being the guiding light in our lives. Give us a clear vision of what you want us to achieve in this coming year – both as a church and as individuals. Fill us all with a new sense of your presence and strength. Help us to re-dedicate our lives to you on a daily basis seeking your will in all we do and say. Help your worldwide church to be a praying, caring church and a beacon of light in their local communities spreading the words of your grace, love and peace. In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer we pray for the Anglican Church of the Province of West Africa.

As we look at our world we see so many areas of conflict, violence, racial inequality and social injustice that we can sometimes feel overwhelmed and helpless. Let us never forget that you Lord are a powerful God of justice and equality and let us never give up praying for peace, justice and fairness for everyone. Soften the hard hearts of those who believe that aggression is the only way to achieve their goals. Enable us all to be courageous bearers of the message that our Saviour Christ is the Prince of Peace, and that peace is available to all.

We pray for ourselves, our families and friends. Thank You Lord that we can bring to you in prayer any concerns we may have about them and ourselves. We pray for those who are in need of healing – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. There is so much need of healing in our world today, but we believe in the healing power of Your Holy Spirit. We thank you Lord for the many miraculous healings of family and friends over the past year that have been shared with us in the Monday evening prayer group and those that we have witnessed for ourselves. We lift up to you all those caring for the sick, the young, the elderly, the disabled and the lonely. We pray for strength and perseverance for all people working in hospitals, care homes, surgeries, their own homes and all care environments. We thank you Lord for their loving care and dedication to those in their charge.

We bring before you Lord the families and friends who are mourning the loss of a loved one. Death is eventually part of all our lives but the loss of someone we love is always painful, so we pray for Your Holy Spirit to bring some comfort to those who are grieving. We also pray for those who are remembering the anniversary of the passing of someone dear to them. In a moment of quiet we remember for ourselves all those who we knew and loved who are no longer in our lives.

We pray for your guidance Lord, as Christ The King, led by Rev Steve journeys through 2025. Help us to be open to the guiding of your Holy Spirit; to take time to be in your Holy presence; to sit, to pray and to listen. Help us to keep our hearts and minds set on You Lord as we go through this coming week.
Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen
