Remembrance Sunday
'In the stillness of Remembrance Day,
A symphony of silence plays.
Each note a tribute, each pause a prayer,
An orchestration of honour, resonating in the air.'
Gracious Lord, we long for a world that lives in peace and harmony, free of poverty and oppression, free of vengeance and violence.
We long for your peace to reign.

Father God, we give thanks for all the men and women who have fought, and continue to fight, for freedom, justice and peace in this world.
We remember today those who lost their lives in battles past, and those that even today, are still giving their lives sacrificially in the pursuit of a world where we can all live in harmony with each other; in pursuit of a world where there is forgiveness and understanding, and a way of living side-by-side as equals.
Father God, you sacrificed your Son for this world. No one knows more than you the cost.

Dear Lord Jesus, we cry out on behalf of the people affected by the conflict in Gaza and Israel. Our hearts break at the devastation and suffering that we see, and we know it breaks your heart too.
We come before you and ask that you bring this war to an end.
We pray for those who have been injured, the traumatised, those who have lost loved ones, who wait for news. For those who have lost their homes, their livelihoods.
Please provide everything they need and be their comfort, their hope, their healer, and their safe refuge.
We pray for peace to reign. We look to you as our Saviour and hope for the world.
In Psalm 24 we read, 'The earth is the Lord’s' and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for He founded the seas and established it on the waters'.

Prince of Peace, we come before you with all our hearts, seeking your peace in all parts of this world. Peace amongst the nations, peace in our country, and peace in our families. Open our eyes, and the eyes of the nations, to find a different path through the disagreements of life in this world.
We pray for the leaders of the nations to have the courage to work toward peace; for the peacemakers who work tirelessly for reconciliation, to be strengthened in times of discouragement and rejection.

We pray for your church around the world, called to witness to your love for all mankind. Protect them Lord in the places where the message of the gospel is the hardest to proclaim; where their lives are at risk for so doing. We pray that your Word will break down the barriers that divide people.
In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer we pray for the Anglican Church of Mozambique and Angola.

Loving God, we remember today those who need our prayers for healing, for strength, for reconciliation, for comfort and peace. We remember them now in a moment of silent prayer.
On this Remembrance Sunday, we especially remember those you have gathered from the 'storm of war, into the peace of your presence'. We pray that the same peace will calm our fears, ease our worries and concerns, and bring us into your loving presence.

Can you hear the quiet melody?
The harmony of hearts beating in unity.
A song of gratitude, a hymn of peace.
Echoing across the landscapes of eternity.
We remember the past and we look to the future.
Lord in Your mercy
Hear our prayer
Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
