Intercessions
12th October 2025
Heavenly Father, we come before you with thanksgiving for your mercy and grace. And on this glorious October morning we give thanks for the beauty and wonder of the world around us as we bring before you our concerns and prayers for the world, our local community and the Church.

Father, we pray for all Christian churches throughout the world as they meet to worship and praise you and enjoy fellowship with each other. We pray for the new Archbishop of Canterbury, Bishop Sarah, the first among equals in the Anglican Communion. We pray for you to give her wisdom, strength, tolerance and understanding of your will as she faces up to the mighty task before her. We pray for the other provincial leaders to accept your will. And today in our cycle of prayer we pray for the Bishops and souls in the province of Uganda.

Lord, we pray for your blessing on our church - Christ The King, on our Bishop, Andy Lines, our Ministers, Steve & Mike, for our Lay Leaders and all who work tirelessly for this church. Grant them wisdom, patience, and a willing and loving heart. Strengthen them when they are juggling with the demands on their time and energy and give them a vision of the worth of their work. May your love and presence be seen vividly in all that they do and say.

Father, we lift before you our Branch Groups and their leaders. We pray for our Bible Study groups in Almancil and in Tavira and we pray for the members of the Christian Nepalese Fellowship.
We pray that as they gather to read the scriptures and hear the word that they grow in their love and understanding of your mercy and grace and bond together in a Christian community to support and encourage each other.

Creator God, today we stand before you and celebrate the news of a cease fire in the Middle East and the imminent release of the hostages and prisoners. We thank you for all the key players in this achievement, and particularly the unnamed, the ceaseless workers and negotiators working behind the scenes. Today we also bring before you a broken and hurting world, full of people who are fearful and anxious, a world where conflict abounds; a world where millions are suffering starvation, homelessness and fear, a world where some national leaders appear more concerned with their own interests than those of the people they are called to represent. We know this is not how you intended the world to be, and we pray for your Holy Spirit to come in power, to bring hope, peace, reconciliation, justice, equality, and healing. We ask you show us how we can help through our words and actions. In a moment of silence please pray for a place or situation on your mind this morning.

Lord, we remember those who have died. We name them now silently or in spoken prayer
We pray for their loved ones who are left behind to grieve. Help them to draw comfort from the Holy Spirit and the fellowship of their church family and we thank you for your promise of eternal life for those who put their trust in your Son Jesus.

Lord, as we leave this service, we thank you for the knowledge that you are always with us as we seek to serve you during the coming week. Help us to be your messengers of hope and love. Help us to put aside personal interests and generously share all the blessings you have given us. May our lives reflect your glory, and provide glimpses of your love, and as we bring your good news to all the people, we meet this week may we continue to trust in your goodness. We ask for all these prayers in the name of our saviour Jesus Christ our Lord
Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
