Intercessions
5th October 2025
Loving, protective, Father God,
Through the beauty of the Psalms, we are reminded and reassured, that you are our refuge and our strength. We are urged to have trust and confidence in you. May your divine wisdom lead us, and your angels help and protect us. Lord God, your presence is unfailing. Forgive us for the days we fail to acknowledge your presence, when we become too blinkered with our everyday tasks to even see your hand in our day. Plant gratitude in our hearts that we may tend it, encourage others and notice our daily blessings.

Divine, compassionate Christ,
Help us to cultivate and nurture our true riches, those found in the inner-most part of our soul. Gently guide us to do good works, to be generous when we can. Guide us to be aware of others’ needs that we may never neglect a chance to ease another person’s journey. We bring before you now for those we know in need of help and encouragement at this time.
There are so many people all over the world crying out for peace. So many innocents caught up in wars they never chose to be part of. So many maimed; so many bereaved; so many traumatised. Please give leaders the compassion and wisdom they need to negotiate ceasefires and bring about peace, to allow aid to reach the needy, to allow the people in their countries to rebuild, heal and find hope again. We thank you for Christians world-wide who are sharing your love and peace with others and we especially pray for the Anglican Church of Tanzania this morning.

Gentle Encourager, Holy Spirit,
We thank you that we are part of your faithful witness here in the Algarve. We thank you for all members of our congregation and we give thanks and pray now for the person sitting beside us …. for those sitting in front of us …. for those sitting behind us …. for those on Zoom … and for those who can’t worship with us this morning, for whatever reason. Awaken us, to sense your divine presence. Inspire us with renewed enthusiasm, enabling us to live as your ambassadors. May we use kind words with those we meet and may kind words enter our inner vocabulary, enabling us to be kinder to ourselves. Soothe our minds when we are troubled, comfort our hearts when we are grieving. Help us to live gently on this earth, taking care of flora and fauna, knowing that this pleases you. Thank you for your love and care.
Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
