Intercessions
14th September 2025
Now as we enter into prayer let us not shout for your help but let us humbly approach you, let us acknowledge that with you all things are possible. We think of all the marvelous things we can see every day on the earth, and we imagine the wondrous scenes of beauty that you have hidden under the ocean.
We give you thanks and praise for all that we have, and we ask that you hear our prayers for the church, the world and all its people. Almighty and powerful God we ask that you hear our prayers that we bring before you in Jesus’ name.
For Christ the King Church we pray for unity in our thinking, equip us with the right tools to build a Church here in the Algarve and prepare our hearts and tongues to be missionary and able to speak openly with others about our faith. Let us not forget that if we act in true faith, you will stand behind us and we will have nothing to fear.
As Viva Worship starts up again, we pray that the new time of the service is blessed. We pray that the people passing here in the park hear our outpouring of love for God and draw near with open curiosity and that they may feel comfortable enough to join us.
We ask for prayer for the Anglican Church of South America.

All seeing God as we reflect on the events of the past week, the shooting in a school, the stabbing on the train and the continuation of countless wars. Help us to see the good in the world, may it be the smile of a child, the pleasantness of the weather, the unexpected phone call from a friend. There is so much war, suffering and hatred. We pray for a deliverance from the misery and greed we see every day on the news.
Help us to be the light in the world, the peace makers, the negotiators and those ready to step in to be the change in someone’s life.

As the children return to school, we pray for them and their families. Provide them with places where they can learn and grow in safety and an understanding that each one is different. We pray and give thanks for the teachers, give them patience and insight for the new school year. We lift up all the support staff, who often do not have any training, show them the best and most loving way to deal with these children, especially those coming from low social and economic families.

We give thanks for those that have been on our prayer list, who are now recovering, and we continue to ask for full recovery for them. For those of our loved ones and friends that continue on the list we ask that you lay your healing hands on them and bring them complete restoration. We give special thanks for the daily miracles that are being witnessed in the lives of Henry and Kerry as baby Haven went home for the first time this week.

The span of a man’s life is but a breath before God. We give you thanks for our lives and we pray for those recently passed. We pray that they died in faith and at the very end knew that Jesus is Lord. We pray for the families and friends left behind, give them comfort and strength.

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
