Intercessions

20th July 2025

Father God, we come before you with grateful hearts. We honour your name and lift it on high. Thank you for the privilege of gathering as your people and bringing our concerns to you in prayer. Thank you for your immense love for us. Empower us by your Holy Spirit to be faithful in your mission and attentive to your voice.

Father, we pray this morning for the government of Portugal both locally and nationally. We pray for our President Marcelo Robelo da Silva and for our Prime Minister Luis Montenegro. We pray they, with their ministers and local government officials, will lead with integrity for the good of this nation and its people. Grant them wisdom, justice, and compassion as they lead.

We pray for the nations of the world; for peace in places of conflict, for wisdom among global leaders, and for justice and mercy to prevail. There is so much suffering caused by ongoing wars and conflicts, and we ask your forgiveness when we find ourselves becoming numb to seeing and hearing the news day after day. Give us hearts that love as you love, that want to pray to you for both friend and stranger; to cry out to you for justice and support for the weak and needy. We pray your will be done when we don't understand the events unfolding in this broken world today.

Gracious Father, we pray for the leadership of this church. For Bishop Andy, for our clergy Steve and Mike, and for our Laity. Grant them wisdom, strength, and deep joy in their service to you. We ask that through their witness, and with the power of your Holy Spirit, Christ The King will be a unified, welcoming, prayerful, and bible-based church. Thank you that we see the beauty of nature all around us as we worship; an ever-present reminder of all that you created, and it was good. Help us to be good custodians of this world, using our influence for good when we see it being wilfully destroyed.

God of glory, we lift up the Viva Worship outreach and thank you for blessing it with new people to Christ The King. Bless these efforts for your glory as your gospel is proclaimed. Thank you for every person who gives of their time and ministry talents, to lead others to you through your Son. May those who hear the Word through music, prayer and preaching, be receptive to the good news about you.

God of salvation, we pray for the mission of our church thanking you for all our blessings and the way they continue to flow and support us daily. We pray you will continue to work in the lives of our Alpha guests, leading and guiding them in their lives as they move forward. Unify us into the welcoming, multicultural and prayerful family you would have us be. Equip us for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up and send us out to evangelize and share your love and truth through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We lift up our branch groups, our Bible studies in Almancil and Tavira, and the service in Tavira on Sunday afternoons. We ask you to bless those who lead and minister with holy wisdom and knowledge. We pray these will be places that people feel valued and loved, where they will be nurtured and grow in faith. May these gatherings deepen our love for you and one another.

We thank those who serve faithfully every week. For our prayer team, sacristans, and our music and sound team. Strengthen and bless them in their service.

We remember those among us who are sick or in need. We pray you will give them your strength in their weakness, the faith to believe in healing, and to carry on in that hope, even when the situation is difficult. In a moment of silent prayer we lift them to you. You know each one because they are fearfully and wonderfully made by you.  We pray for comfort and peace for those who have lost loved ones. Bring them your comfort Lord as they rest in you.

Faithful God, thank you for hearing our prayers and answering our prayers. May we continue to trust in your goodness and follow where you lead.

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
