Intercessions
20th October 2024
As we come before you we give you thanks:
On this Harvest Festival day when we think of harvests past, of churches that smelt of earth from the vegetables just picked and flowers freshly cut from the garden. We give you thanks for the bounty we have shared over the years, our loved ones present and absent, the sun that shines on us and the rain that falls to water the crops. We give you thanks for the peaceful place we live in and the good food we are able to buy, that grows in the ground and is picked from the trees. The beaches we wander in summer and fall. We give you our thanks Lord, for you give us it all.
We offer up our prayers for the church, the world and all its people. Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you promised through your Son, Jesus Christ, to hear us when we pray in faith.
Sovereign Lord as we pray for the Harvest, we pray that you equip us to go forth and plant many seeds of hope in the hearts of the unbelievers. Let us become better listeners as we listen to your Holy words and give thanks for the knowledge and wisdom that the Rev Steve imparts with us each Sunday. We pray for the growth of the Church not only in numbers but in faith.

Lord God Almighty the harvest is bountiful but so is the greed. We pray for deliverance from the greed and hate that is growing so strongly in the world today. We give you thanks for the peace and stability that we have here in the Algarve. We ask that you show us ways in which we can help to end all the terrible wars and injustices that are occurring each day. Equip us to fight against the evil that walks among us.

God, my refuge and my fortress, I give you thanks that when I am in need I can turn to you. There are many in our community in need of help and today we bring before you our gifts for those less fortunate. We pray that they may hear your words and find refuge and strength in You. We give thanks for all those that work tirelessly to help these families. May you bless our gifts and open us up to give more freely of our wealth, our time and our talents.

As many here today struggle with the ill health of themselves or their loved ones. We offer up our prayers for all who suffer. Show us the path to healing, either by medical intervention, a better diet, correct exercise or the right person to share our troubled minds with or just give us the faith to accept our conditions and search for the good in bad situations.
Lord in Your mercy

Receiving God, for those that are reaching the end of their earthly journey we pray that they may know that you are God and that in asking for your forgiveness for all their sins, which they committed that you open your arms to welcome them home. Give strength and comfort to those that are grieving.
Lord in Your mercy

At Harvest time let us count our blessings and praise the Lord for all that he gives us. We ask that he watches over us, that Jesus walks with us and that the Holy Spirit lives in us. We give you never ending praise and thanks.
Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
