Intercessions
22nd December 2024
Philippians 4 v 4 and 5 reminds us to 'rejoice in the Lord always; again I say rejoice! The Lord is near'. On this fourth Advent Sunday, it is a wonderful reminder that at Christmas we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, and He is always near us.
Let us pray
Lord and loving Heavenly Father, as we come before you to pray and intercede for many things, please quieten our hearts and minds from outside influence, and help us to give you the devotion you desire and deserve.
Father on this fourth Sunday of Advent, help us to use this season of anticipation, to reflect on every good thing that you have already done for us in Jesus, and the wonderful things yet to come. As we look forward to celebrating the birth of your Son, we also look forward with expectation to his promised coming again in glory.

Dear Heavenly Father, lead your worldwide church this advent season, as it prepares to celebrate Christmas. Lead this your church of Christ the King, under the guidance of Reverend Steve, to bring people back to the miracle of a baby born in a manger. A baby who was to be the Saviour and Light of the world. A baby that represented 'Love', a 'Fathers love’, Your love, in all its wonder, mystery and amazement.

Lord Jesus, we pray in this advent season of peace and goodwill to all men, that governments will find a way through the political barriers to serve their people better, to seek justice for all, and to remove all religious restriction that divides and causes suspicion and hatred. Prince of Peace, only you can bring about the impossible, because you are the God of the impossible.

Lord, we pray you will bless this community in which we worship, by using us to bring your word, your light, your hope, and your love to all.
May your light shine in the darkness of ill health, the darkness of loneliness, the darkness of grief and suffering. We pray we can be a blessing through our kindnesses, our gifts, and the giving of our time, to serve in your name. Draw us to the people that need to know you Lord Jesus at this time especially. Equip us to welcome and support with the right words, all who are seeking.

We pray for all who are sick, thinking of those on our prayer list, and those close to them ........ those in our families.........all who are in need in whatever way, at this time.

Thank you, Lord, that in this busy season, we can find our rest in you. Thank you for the assurance that if we seek you in all things, stay faithful to your Word, and prayerfully communicate with you, you will be our comfort, our strength and our ever-present peace. Thank you for your promise to always be with us, to never leave us, and to guide us in ways of righteousness and goodness.
Lord in Your mercy

'This Christmas Lord, come to the manger of our hearts, fill us with your presence from the very start.
As we prepare for the celebrations and gifts to be given, remind us of the gift you gave, when you sent your Son from heaven.
The first Christmas gift was the greatest gift ever.
You came as a baby born in a manger; wrapped like the gifts we find under our tree; waiting to be opened; to reveal your love to us.
Restore to us the wonder that came with Jesus' birth, when he left the riches of heaven and wrapped himself in the rags of earth.
Immanuel, God with us, your presence came that night'.
Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
