Intercessions
25th February 2024
Heavenly Father, we come before you today in the fullness of your love, and lift up our hearts in prayer and praise.
Help us to pray simply and sincerely, unselfishly and gratefully, remembering the needs of others as well as our own, and giving thanks always for everything in your name.
Let us pray:
Lord God, we pray today for your church and for Christians in other lands. Lord, where Christians are in the minority let them find strength in knowing you are with them; where they are persecuted let them find courage to continue in faithful service, knowing that you will never leave them; where they are young in the faith, let your Holy Spirit build them up in the knowledge of your love; where they are accepted and can worship and witness in safety, keep them humble and in constant service to you. In the Anglican cycle of prayer we pray for Tanzania, its people, and your church in that place. May it stay true to your Word and serve the people of Tanzania in truth and honesty.
We pray for this church of Christ The King, for our minister Steve and our ministry team, and we ask for your blessing to be on all who serve this Church. We are grateful for its worship and fellowship; for the care and teaching; for its nurturing and love.
Help us to see the kind of church you need today, and guide us in our plans and preparations to bring about your purpose and your will in the community we serve. Help us to know and understand the many and varied needs of this neighbourhood.

Prince of Peace, we pray particularly at this time for peace in all countries of the world where violence war and terrorism are taking place, and we pray especially for those who seek to make peace in this divided world. We pray especially for the Ukraine and Russian war after two years of hostilities, the human suffering and terrible death toll. We think of the Israel and Palestine conflict, and the unspeakable atrocities inflicted on the citizens of both countries. Lord, when will enough lives be lost, and suffering be enough, for the rest of the world to say 'enough' and really work toward lasting peace. Lord please empower the peacemakers, and soften the hard hearts that prevent negotiation and a lasting solution. Lord, you desire us to live in peace and love for one another. We desire that too.

Creator God, we bring you our thanks and praise for the wonder of creation, and we pray that you would open our eyes to see all the beauty around us every day, and to appreciate your amazing provision.
Help us to safeguard your world, supporting those who champion better care of the environment, supporting those who work in conservation and the protection of this planet, so that our children and future generations will benefit from all you have created.

Lord of all compassion, we pray for those who are ill or in need of your help at this time.
We pray for the sick, both at home and in hospital, and those awaiting consultations, treatments and surgery.

We think of the elderly, the housebound, and those in care homes; and we pray for all who minister to their needs, both from within the family and from the professional and voluntary services.
Comfort and sustain those who are in need of your grace at this time, and as we share a moment of silence together, we bring before you those known to us as we name them in our hearts and commit them to your loving care.

Lord, as we leave church today, we give you thanks for our happy days, for the things that bring us joy and make us feel loved and valued. Help us to share that love and joy with others, making them feel valued too. If we leave with some fear or anxiety, sadness or hurt robbing us of that love and joy, fill us afresh with your Holy Spirit, free us from panic and worry. Help us to anchor our thoughts and minds in your mighty power and love, and please let each new day begin with peace in our hearts and the assurance of your Fatherly care.

our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
