Intercessions
25th May 2025
As we close our eyes and open our hearts to give you praise and thanks we ask you, merciful God to hear our prayers this and every day.
We offer you our prayers for the needs of the Church, the world and its people.
Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you promised through your son, Jesus Christ, to hear us when we pray in faith.
As we think about the passages we have heard today, let us reflect on how the church was once held in open spaces like this, the people hearing the gospel for the first time could hear birds singing, feel the gentle breeze, see the beauty of God’s creation around them. We are no different from those first Christians, and as we think about the readings today, let us hear them, as if for the first time, and give us new insight and let us be renewed in our faith.

We give thanks for Rev Steve, who is opening our eyes to the meaning of the passages from Revelation that we have been hearing over the past four weeks. All Churches seem to have problems but with the help and guidance of God we pray that all these problems can be resolved and that a united body of Christ can be made here on earth.
We pray for the 2025 ACE Conference and Synod, which is taking place today.
In the Anglican cycle of prayer we pray for the Anglican Church of Kenya.

Faithful one, we give you thanks for our world. You know how heavy our hearts are with all the wars, destruction and oppression of people’s rights. You are a God that rules with equity, send your Holy Counsellor to guide and advise all the leaders of the world. Help us to remember that we are not without power, you have given us the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we can also work to make the world a better place.

Let us give thanks for the wonderful world God has created and all the creatures he has made. Now that the rains have stopped, we pray that the land is being cleared properly to prevent any summer fires. We give thanks for the council workers, who have been busy cleaning the edges of the roads in the countryside, aiding drivers to have a better view and helping to prevent accidents. Let us remember God’s creatures as we move in his world, let us drive slowly and appreciate all that his hand has created.

We give you thanks for the sun that shines, it is one of the best remedies for ailing spirits and minds. We pray for all those that are physically and mentally ill, that the medical practitioners can help and guide them to a place of health. We pray for those emotionally drained, give them strength. For those spiritually empty, we pray for the Spirit of God to fill them with light.

Our time here on earth is temporary but we still find it hard when a loved one dies. We pray for all those coming to the end of their lives, may they find peace and comfort in the knowledge that you, Our Lord, wait for them. For those that are left to mourn, help us to seek you more dearly and remember our hope for eternal life lives in you.
