Intercessions
28th April 2024
Let us pray:
As we come before you, our Lord, we empty ourselves from the thoughts in our heads, we open our hearts and minds to hear you more clearly, to feel your presence and to know that you are God.
We offer you our prayers for the needs of the Church, the world and its people.
Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you promised through your son, Jesus Christ, to hear us when we pray in faith.
Wonderful Counsellor, we give you thanks for our Church and for the successful AGM this week. We pray for the Holy Spirit to guide the new council as they move forward. We give thanks for the leadership of Rev Steve Chisholm. We pray for room to grow, the ability to adapt, let us learn new things, and find ways to improve our relationships and communication with each other.
We pray for the Anglican Church worldwide and especially The Church of Bangladesh.

Maker of all Heaven and Earth, we live in a fallen world, there is so much corruption, destruction of the planet, unjust wars and suffering of the people. We ask for all those that hold positions of power in this earthly world that they may have divine wisdom, send the Spirit of Truth to set them free. Give them the courage to do what is right to end wars and poverty, to work for peace and to restore the Earth.

Creator God, this week the world has celebrated another Earth Day. We give you thanks for the wonderful creation of the Earth, the trees and plants that sustain us, the amazing animals that live on the land, the mysterious creatures that swim in the oceans and the incredible birds that fly in the sky. We also raise up our concerns about the damage we are doing to the planet. We ask for forgiveness. Guide us in ways to help restore the balance that we have disturbed so badly.

Loving God, Jesus’s love was so great for us that he gave his life to save us. How can we ever express our thanks for this sacrifice? Every day we must try to love as we are loved with actions and not just words, guided by the Holy Spirit that you sent to lead us. Open our eyes to the suffering of our neighbour, both near and far. Make us better stewards of the world, working in the community to help those that are destitute, downtrodden and abused.

Healer of the sick, this week many of us have seen your miraculous ways at work. We give you praise that our prayers for Rhonda’s family, her Mother, Ruby, Greg and Cory have been heard. Equally we are thankful for you hearing our prayers for Jenny and Steve. We continue to pray for these members of our church and for all those on our prayer list, may all feel the healing power of your hand at work in their lives.

For those that are coming to the end of their lives, let them express their love for those around them and ask for forgiveness for any offences or trespasses in their lives, let them embrace your presence and know that they are loved by you, our Heavenly Father.
For those that grieve, whether the death be recent or far in the past, give us comfort, let us remember with gladness the memories that we shared with our loved ones.
Lord in Your mercy

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
