Intercessions
30th July 2023
We pray to our Father God in heaven in the knowledge that through His Son Jesus our prayers will be heard. As Christians we delight in the fellowship we have with Christ and our fellow believers. Thank you, Lord, for the privilege of being able to meet to worship You, here in Almancil. As we sing our hymns and say our responses may the sound reach out into the park and bring others in to share in our worship and learn of the Lord’s love and salvation.

Jesus calls us to make disciples of all nations, promising to send us a helper – God’s Holy Spirit. Give us the confidence to share our faith with those we meet – our families and our friends and neighbours. Fill us with the same joy as those we heard about in today’s Gospel reading. Help us in our prayers to focus on You Lord and to pray for the needs of those around us. We pray for church leaders to be strengthened by the power of Your Holy Spirit as they lead their congregations in praise and worship. In the Anglican cycle of prayer, we pray for the Anglican Church of Central America.

Sometimes Lord it’s hard to know how to pray for difficult situations and our words seem inadequate but you know our thoughts and feelings and desires, and You can turn those into prayers. We pray for peace in areas of war and conflict. We pray for wisdom and compassion for government leaders. We pray for a fairer world where everything is shared equally irrespective of race, colour, or creed. We pray for families that have lost everything due to circumstances over which they have no control.

We thank You Lord for being a God who cares about our physical and Spiritual well-being. We pray for healing in body, mind, and spirit both for ourselves and those we love and know who are in need at this time – whether it be easing of physical pain, feeling lonely or far from Your presence and unsure what the future holds. In a moment of quiet we name them in our hearts and minds.
We also pray for those who have died this past week as we live in the real hope that they are now with You in glory. May Your Holy Spirit bring comfort to all those who are grieving the death of someone they knew and loved.

Be with us Lord in the coming week as we share time with each other in our various activities both in person and on Zoom. We are a small church with a big heart, and we delight in being part of Your kingdom here on earth. We thank You Lord for all the blessings that You give our church of Christ The King – for all the wonderful visiting ministers – and we pray for a safe journey for Greg and Meredith as they travel back to America. And we continue to pray that we will soon be blessed by a new full time minister.
Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
