Intercessions
6th July 2025
Heavenly Father, we give you thanks and praise for this Sunday and the opportunity to come before you in prayer with our concerns and worries that we have for our communities, ourselves and the world in which we live.
We pray for your worldwide church and its leaders and laity. May they lead with a spirit of honesty and truth and a love of your Holy Word, the Bible. We thank you for our leadership here at Christ The King – for Bishop Andy and his work for ACE and ANiE. We pray for our clergy – Revs Steve and Mike and thank you for their dedicated leading each Sunday. In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer we pray for the Anglican Communion of Nigeria.

We thank you Lord for our church family of Christ The King and its location here in Almancil that enables us to meet in this lovely place in the park. We are a widespread congregation but meeting together each week to worship you brings us joy. Help us to reach out into our local communities to spread the gospel and its teachings of love and forgiveness. Help us all to be willing to learn new skills that enable us to be effective witnesses to the people we meet each day.
We thank you for the various weekly activities of CTK for its Branch Groups and mid-week services. Thank you for all the work that goes on in the background that enables these things and the Sunday services to go ahead. We especially pray today that you will bless the first of our Sunday evening services. We pray that people who cannot come on a Sunday morning will take the opportunity to come and share in a less formal style of service and that your Holy name will be uplifted and glorified.

Healing God we bring before you both silently and aloud those that we know who need your healing touch at this time. We pray for comfort for those suffering physically, mentally and emotionally. May your Holy Spirit bring healing and comfort to those in pain or need. May your Holy Spirit guide those who are unsure of where their life is going and what direction they should take.
We also pray for comfort for those who are bereaved and grieving the loss of loved relative or friend. Wrap your comforting arms around them and help us to find the right words – or no words – to help them as they grieve.

We pray for our world and its leaders and governments for wisdom and compassion as they hold powers of authority. We are so fortunate to live in the peaceful country of Portugal. We pray for the local elections that are taking place later this year. Help those who are elected to work for the interests of their local communities and not for self-gain.
Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
