Intercessions

Father God, we come before you with grateful hearts. Thank you for the privilege of gathering as your people and lifting our concerns to you in prayer. Empower us by your Holy Spirit to be faithful in your mission and attentive to your voice.
Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you promised through your son, Jesus Christ, to hear us when we pray in faith.
We give thanks Lord for the first apostles, who stood firm in their teaching, by their testimony we are able to gather here today to hear the Gospel preached. We raise up to you our Church leaders Bishop Andy and clergy Steve and Mike. Let their words speak clearly to us.
We pray for guidance as Church members work to prepare and start Viva Worship, let this be a place where all feel welcome and can experience the joy of worship during the summer months.
Today we pray for Gafcon Sunday, as they guard God’s gospel against false teaching and uphold biblical faithfulness.

We pray for peace as we see nation rise against nation, wars that cause displacement of millions of people, famines and extreme weather destruction. We give you thanks for the peace we enjoy here in the Algarve but let us not be blind to the suffering. Let us pray for the leaders of the world that you may guide them to make better and more peaceful decisions. Help them to turn away from the greed of money and power.

As the children here in Portugal commence their school holidays, we give thanks for the many people working tirelessly to take care of these children, while the parents struggle to balance work with homelife at a very busy time of the year. We ask that you give these people understanding, patience, kindness and most of all love as they fill the gap left by working parents.

We give you thanks for all the medical staff, who in the next few months will be overloaded, dealing not just with the residents but with the many tourists who come here. We pray that tourists not put their lives in danger by excessive partying and leave medical staff free to deal with the elderly or young.
There are many on our prayer list in need of healing, physically, mentally and spiritually. We take a quiet moment to say their names out loud or in our heads. Praying for healing, for knowing the comfort of God’s love and for thanksgiving for the care they receive.

We give praise to you, our Heavenly Father, for the lives we live, for the loved ones who we see each day and those that we see less frequently. We ask for your strength, comfort and peace for those that have suffered the loss of a loved one recently. We pray for Ricky Dee, who many will know for his charitable work here in the Algarve, may he rest in peace.
