Intercessions
8th October 2023
Let us come before God our Maker, making our prayers to him, through Jesus and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
We pray for the Church:
Dear God, we pray for Churches and places of Worship everywhere who call upon you, by whatever name, to help and guide them in their faith. We pray especially for our own Church here in Almancil and for those who guide and teach us to live according to your Commandments and ways. We especially thank you for the ministry of Rev Mike Starkey and for his inspired preaching and teaching, and in the Anglican Cycle of prayer we ask your blessing on The Episcopal Church in Jerusalem & the Middle East.

We pray for the world:
Dear God we pray for all leaders and heads of state that they may be guided by you to advise wisely and act responsibly for the wellbeing of all their people. We pray for Peace in war-torn countries and your loving embrace on all their people.
We ask for your guidance in the way we manage and care for this planet, it’s resources, riches and inhabitants.

We pray for Our Communities, Family and Friends:
Dear God, it would be impossible to live our lives without the support of family, friends and neighbours. Help us to ensure through our actions and words that all these relationships may reflect your loving ways. Help us to give the respect we ourselves would appreciate and our willingness to share what we have for the good of others.

We pray for those who suffer:
Dear God we bring before you all who are suffering through illness, accident or deliberate cruelty; for refugees and all who are abused. We pray for all those on our prayer list and those known only to ourselves, that through the caring of human hands they may experience the caring hands of God.

We pray for those who have died:
Dear God we pray for all who have died violently or suddenly, or with no one to miss them. Bless all those who mourn and give them comfort in the knowledge that their loved ones will be judged with mercy and welcomed into eternal life.

We pour out our thanks and praise for the gift of life and the gift of one another. May we treat each other with renewed reverence and honour your Holy name.

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
