Intercessions
9th June 2024
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we give you thanks for your constant presence in our lives. We want to draw nearer to you, we do not want to hide from you, but to feel your love and strength, to hear your voice and know that you are God.
As we come with open hearts to give thanks and praise to the Lord. We offer you our prayers for the needs of the Church, the world and its people.
Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you promised through your Son, Jesus Christ, to hear us when we pray in faith.
We pray for the Church, both here in Almancil and the rest of the world.
We give you thanks for sending us Rev Steve to lead us, to help us grow not only in numbers but in faith. Let us move forward as a united Church well prepared and ready to bring the Good News to all who are waiting to hear it. We give thanks for all believers who came before us, who stood fast in their faith to keep the gospel message alive. Let all your churches be united today in our prayers. We pray for the Province de L’Eglise Anglicane Du Congo, we lift up our concerns for Church women in this war torn area, working for peace and reconciliation.

We pray for the world, with many elections taking place this year and especially here today in Europe we pray that politicians may find faith and be surrounded by fellow Christians, who will help them hear the voice of God crying out for a better world. We pray that world leaders are touched by the hand of Jesus and work towards a gentler, kinder world with an end to poverty and hunger. We acknowledge that living here in the Algarve we are so fortunate and each day we can count our blessings for the wonderful life we live.

Jesus loved children and as adults it is our responsibility to love them, raise them, protect them and keep them safe from the evils of this world. As the school year draws to an end we give you thanks for all the teachers and auxiliary staff, who each year face many difficulties and challenges. In this digital world, where parents are very often absent, many times not of their own making, children frequently find themselves alone. We ask that you protect them from the many dangers that can be found online. Help the children, teachers, staff and lawmakers to find a healthier way for children to navigate the internet. You Lord, can change the algorithms, show us what we need to do to make this change.

Healing God, you can restore and heal the sick, the ill and the dying. We ask that you bring comfort and healing to all on our prayer list. As we pray for the sick of body, mind or spirit we remember that with faith all is possible. In a moment of silence we lift up our prayers for those who are on our hearts today.

For those that are nearing the end of their lives let them give thanks for all the times they have loved, laughed and enjoyed the beauty of this world. Let them feel the comfort of your love around them. For those that grieve let us remember that our loved ones live on in our hearts and memories and in Heaven, where their pain and suffering has ended.
