Intercessions
16th February 2025
Heavenly Father, we give you thanks for your constant presence in our lives. We put our trust in you, even though we know not what you plan for our world, for our lives, we know you have a plan for our good and for our prosperity.
As we come with open hearts to give thanks and praise to the Lord. We offer you our prayers for the needs of the Church, the world and its people.
Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you promised through your son, Jesus Christ, to hear us when we pray in faith.
We recognise how blessed we are to be able to come here together to worship and give you praise; we acknowledge that we have the freedom to enjoy fellowship and to share in the gospels. We pray for all countries where the freedom to worship is prohibited, and for the countries where the gospels are distorted to serve a political end.
We pray for the safety of the Church of Bangladesh, may it grow in number and faith.

Maker of heaven and earth, We give you thanks for the safety of our countries, for the roofs over our heads, the food in our bellies and the clothes on our backs. You, Lord give us all that we need and we come here today to give you thanks for our many blessings. We pray for those living in war torn places, for healing and strength for the downtrodden.
We ask that you give wisdom to those in power and show them the way forward is with love and empathy.

We give you thanks as we start to see the return to better weather with plants springing forth from the earth, the trees filling with new leaves and flowers, for the recent rains here in the Algarve, that thankfully soaked into the soil. We give you thanks for our food safety, for all the people involved in bringing fruit, vegetables, meat and fish to our tables. We pray for all those fighting to keep our food safe, fighting to restore nature and protecting the wildlife. Without the work of these people we would all starve.

We acknowledge our good fortune to live in the West where there are doctors and medical practitioners, who can help and provide us with assistance in all our ailments. We pray for those less fortunate, who are denied this right to health care. We pray for all those suffering at this moment that are on our prayer list. Give them hope, strength and comfort.
Lord in Your mercy

For those that believe in your goodness and love, who are nearing the end of their time here on earth, as they pass into the kingdom of heaven may they hear your choirs of angels singing your praise. For those that remain may they be comforted by the promise of eternal life, let their faith give them strength and the hope of one day being reunited with their loved ones.

As we look to the world we see many conflicts, much dishonesty and greed. Lord, we put our trust in you. Equip us to do what we can, where we can, with whomever we can. You have a plan but we are not helpless where we see a wrong, let us help correct it, where there is suffering, alleviate the pain, where there is hate let us love with the kind of love you show us.
Lord in Your mercy

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
