Intercessions
20th April 2025
Christ has risen. Today we have a renewed hope that through his crucifixion we have been saved. It is by his death that we live in the hope of eternal life. We bring before you our prayers for the church, the world, the community and all mankind and ask that by the intercession of Jesus Christ you hear our prayers.
Faithful God, in Almancil at the Church of Christ the King, we acknowledge that we are but a small part of the wider world church and we give thanks that we can join together assured in the knowledge that the world over is celebrating your son Jesus Christ’s resurrection. May we leave the service today with the guidance and the strength of the Holy Spirit to go forth and tell the world that he is indeed risen.
In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the Anglican Church in Hong Kong and Macao, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui

God, you sent us a message announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, the Lord of all. Yet today we pray once more for peace in a world torn apart by war, greed and violence. We pray for the governors and rulers of the world to see the error of their ways. Open their hearts to greater understanding about the needs of the people, let them see how they are not protecting a world of such amazing beauty that only a good and mighty God, like you, could create.

We give you thanks for the wonderful community we find ourselves living in here in the Algarve, we are truly blessed to live in such an amazing place and to be surrounded by people who accept our presence here. Let us reach out to this community and people in whatever way we can, to go where you send us, to assist wherever it is needed, and to hear the pleas for help and respond with joyful hearts and light hands.

On this Easter Sunday we pray for those that are suffering or ailing in any way, physically, mentally, or spiritually. We pray for their healing and hope that on hearing once more the good news of the resurrection that their faith be renewed and their suffering be lifted. Let them feel your healing presence, and gain strength from your unending love.

We pray for the dying that they may know no fear, for you are with them and you will comfort them in their final hour. We give thanks for their lives, and we wait for the day that we will all be reunited once more in your heavenly kingdom. Help us to remember the joy and love we shared, and that death is just a new beginning because of the sacrifice on the cross.

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
