Let us still our minds and centre them on God’s presence as we come before Him to pray for the needs of the world, the church and those on our hearts today.
Lord, we give you thanks for being the Bread of Life.
You are the One who satisfies our soul’s deepest desire with the joy of salvation. We come to you with gratitude for all that we have. We especially thank you for the rain you have sent to alleviate the severe drought that existed here in Portugal, and which would have caused severe problems in the months to come.
Open our eyes and the eyes of all to see you as the only Bread for spiritual hunger but, also, to see your presence in the faces of all who have physical hunger.

We pray for those whose daily need for healthy food, clean water and proper shelter goes un-met, and for those misusing what they have in the vain pursuit of pleasure. Feed them with all the good things of Christ for life now and in eternity.

We pray that You will give wisdom to both world leaders and leaders of local communities who have so many peoples’ lives in their hands. Prompt them to make decisions that bring comfort and reduce pain and suffering whether it be in war torn countries, at national level or in local communities where decisions have to be made about housing, pay, employment, hospital care, education and justice.

We pray for the church worldwide, for all Christian churches in the Algarve and our own church of Christ The King, that Christians everywhere will live lives that attract people with spiritual need and hunger to their local church community. Guide them by your Holy Spirit so that they come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
In the Anglican and Cycle of Prayer we pray for Iglesia Anglicana de la Region Central de America. We pray for all their church leaders both Lay and Ordained that you will use them to bring your message and grow Your church across the whole region.

Feed those who are sick or sorrowing with healing and consolation through Christ. We pray for those on our prayer list and we ask you to meet the needs of others we know personally and whom we now name silently in our hearts.

Our lives have been enriched by all those we have known and loved who have died, and we pray now for those who now see for themselves that greater light in your presence which Jesus, who is the light of the world, came to show us. We pray for all those who have died this week and we pray that you will give comfort to all who mourn their passing.

Hear our prayer
Loving God, you heard the prayers of your people in the wilderness and fed them bread from heaven despite their sin. Graciously hear us today and feed us too with the Bread of Life from heaven.
Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
