Intercessions
30th March 2025
As we come with open hearts to give thanks and praise to the Lord. We offer you our prayers on this special Mothering Sunday for the needs of the Church, the world and its people.Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you promised through your son, Jesus Christ, to hear us when we pray in faith.
Gracious God, we thank you for the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus. She showed us how much a mother is capable of bearing, and she was a wonderful example of how to trust in you. Today we give thanks for all mothers, to those who find motherhood an easy task and those that have difficulties in being a mother. We ask for your blessing on them all, past, present and future.

We give you thanks for our church, Christ the King, where we come each week to join in the worship and praise of Jesus Christ, our Lord. We pray for the growth of our church and give thanks to those who help and guide us on our journey to greater faith.Today we rejoice for all the ladies in our congregation, who use their skills to serve God in many ways.In our Anglican Cycle of Prayer we pray for the Province de L’Eglise Anglicane Du Congo, we hold them in our prayers at these difficult times and pray for a swift resolution in their country.

God, you hear and answer our prayers, and for this we are truly grateful. The world we live in is constantly changing but the problems remain the same. We pray for peace in worn-torn areas, stability in politically unstable countries. We pray for comfort for the women, who have lost their menfolk due to war, hope for the mothers trying to feed their families in a place where food is scarce.

United in our faith we come to you God of all mankind, thanking you for our bountiful lives. Send the Holy Spirit to show us how we can help more in the community, using our God given talents to unite, educate, bind and equip.

Healing Father, we acknowledge the women who have helped to make many advances in modern medicine. We pray for women, who work as medical researchers and leaders of healthcare programmes. We ask guidance for all who care for partners, children or the elderly. We pray for healing for the many on our prayer list and in a moment of silence for those that are only known to us.

God of comfort, let your presence be known to those at the end of their lives and to the family that they leave behind. Comfort, guide and strengthen them at the end of their journey. Reassure those that remain that death is not the end but a new beginning in you.
Lord in Your mercy

On this Mothering Sunday, as we remember those Mothers who loved us, those who struggled to express their love, those that faced hardships for our comfort, and those whose greatest desire is to be a mother but never get the chance. There is no course to take, no exam to pass, motherhood is a journey that many are unprepared for. Help us to be better mothers/fathers, let us share our knowledge and raise up strong, loving faithful mothers.
Lord in Your mercy

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
