Intercessions
3rd December 2023
The Advent season reminds us that God came to dwell with us, to experience life as one of us, and to live in our hearts forever.
We are not only to hear the message of Christmas, but to tell the message of Christmas to others; to spread the message of love. Love came down at Christmas, and His name was Jesus.
This first Advent Sunday we remember the Hope we have in Jesus; our Saviour and our perfect example to follow.
Let us Pray
Heavenly Father, this Advent Season as we celebrate and experience again the joy and wonder of the birth of Jesus, help us to also remember that we wait with anticipation and expectation of His second coming. Inspire us to follow in the footsteps of John the Baptist in preparing the way; in our own hearts, and also in our invitation to others to come and celebrate and know Jesus. Fill our hearts with grace. Thank you for the Hope we have in You Heavenly Father, because You are always faithful and keep Your promises. Our Hope comes from You.

Heavenly Father we pray for Christians around the world and ask You to help us turn our faces back to You, especially at a time when we are in danger of getting caught up in worldly things. We pray especially for our persecuted brothers and sisters who suffer for their faith. Be their strength and Hope. We pray for Your church, and church leaders, to be bold in proclaiming the Hope of Christmas and the Hope that is to come; to be a beacon of light to the lost.
Here at Christ The King, we look forward to the arrival of Steve Chisholm as he comes to lead us into the future you have planned for us. We thank you for the wonderful ministers you have sent us to lead and guide and feed us with Your word; for their godly oversight, and love for this Your church.
Heavenly Father we pray we will be open to Your guidance and leading as we seek Your vision for us, and we will be gracious, one to another to fulfil it.

Lord of the world, we pray for all the nations, especially in the places of the world where there is war, famine and natural disaster. We bring before You the leaders and ask You to send Your Holy Spirit on them so that they will rule with justice and mercy, with wisdom and fairness. We pray they will be empowered to work toward peace and reconciliation in this world. We pray especially for Israel, Gaza, Ukraine; for those places in this world where conflict and suffering have become a fact of life; the places where humanitarian help is needed the most. Give us hearts of compassion especially this Advent season, to help where we can, how we can, to bring love through our generosity, to a hurting world. Your love through us.

Creator God, as we look at the news, we can often feel a sense of hopelessness and despair, a sense of things being out of control. But we can also see the beauty of this wonderful world, the world that You created; and it was good; it is good in so many parts. Help us to rejoice in nature, to give thanks for all that You have provided, and to do all we can to preserve it for future generations to enjoy. We give thanks for those who work in preservation and conservation, for aid organisations all over the world that work tirelessly to alleviate suffering and bring Hope.

Healing God, we pray for the people we know who need Your comfort, Your peace, Your healing mercy at this time. We lift them to You in a moment of silent prayer.
Be their strength Lord and their Hope.
