O God of truth and justice, we hold before you those whose memory we cherish and those whose names we will never know. help us to lift our eyes above the torment of this broken world and grant us the Grace to pray for those who wish us harm.
Let us pray for the departed and their loved ones:
We remember with gratitude and sorrow all those who have died in conflict, we pray for the peace of their souls.
We pray for those who are suffering grief with the loss of their loved ones and ask that they find comfort and assurance.
We give thanks for the acts of courage and sacrifice of those who have served and remember that their courage may have secured our freedom.
Lord in Your mercy
Hear our prayer
Let us pray for the present and the future:
We pray for a world without war and violence, for the leaders who seek to build it, and for the relief agencies that support its victims.
We pray for those living under oppression or in the midst of conflict and violence, for those displaced and for the hope that they may live in dignity and safety.
We pray for those who work for peace, reconciliation and non- violent resolutions, and for a world where we can live in unity.
Lord in Your mercy
Hear our prayer
We pray for ourselves:
We confess our own part in the world’s sin and failure to establish peace and pray for the Grace to live in accordance with God’s will.
We pray for the Grace to see how much we have been given and to value the lives that were sacrificed for it, and to take time to reflect on their gifts to us.
We pray that as we honour the past we may put our faith in a future where peace and justice can be built.
Merciful Father,
accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ.
